A different view a simple perspective…

Here we begin a new trail and perhaps a different twist looking at things.  Our offices are nestled just outside the state capital of Lansing…right smack in the middle of Michigan’s lower peninsula or the mitten as some refer to it.  Our intent is to share some of our observations on things technical that you may have used, consider using…or are just curious enough to see what others are out there using and just want to see for yourself.

Now that all of the kids have iPads how ’bout you…

It may take a while for a diehard pc user to become comfortable with the uniqueness of the Apple iPad. However your efforts may be well rewarded for your adventure. One thing that I’ve always found to be a less than optimal situation when using a pc or laptop was the rather lengthy boot/or startup time. Think of all the minutes consumed when all you really needed is a tidbit of information. Now with an iPad at your side you’ll find that you can get immediate access to look up the weather, school closings, game starting times…you know important stuff. You may find it quite different than a keyboard, since the iPad uses nothing more than a single button along with a touchpad screen. However, in time, you will begin to wonder how you got along before with all the waiting. It is quite portable, has excellent battery life, and can double as a portable music source…try doing that with your 80’s boom box !

Do your eyes a favor…

So often, we think that the answer when we buy a new computer is to buy the faster processor or the most memory. But if we step back from everything and give it some thought isn’t really our eyes that could use the most help ? Maybe it is just time to look at purchasing a new monitor with your next computer. Or maybe, why wait and just start thinking about one right now. With the price of larger monitors coming to a very comfortable price point maybe now is the time to start your search. I cannot tell you the difference it has made for me and others that I have recommended this advice to. You can see text so much clearer, have multiple windows on the same screen, reduce time opening and closing all of those windows…the list goes on and on. Many of these new monitors in the 24-30″ range can be found between $ 250 and $ 350.00. I have personally used both the Hanns-G and an I-Inc monitors (they may be manufactured in similar fashion and seem quite similar) Bright and crisp and even run with a normal video card.
